How They See Us: Unmasking The Religious Right War on Gay America

Due to the importance of this post, it will be the only one I write today.

I have said all that there needs to say and the only thing left now is the posting of How They See Us.

This booklet is free to anyone who wants to read, download, or link it to their blog. By all means, please do so. And above all, please "like " it on Facebook, twitter, and other forms of social media. In spite of the claims of the religious right, our goal is not to silence them, but to demand an answer from them regarding their tactics. Lies told in the name of God are still lies: HowThey See Us

Okay, I tried to go to the site and read it, but I have a problem. I'm dyslexic. I have software that can read the text out loud for me, but some of it seems to be images of text which is useless to me, and others seem to be text laid out too close to images. The software works by selecting the text and being so close to the images I can't get it to select the words. Instead it tries to drag the image.

I really would like to read it to know what the peace says.

Erica, would it help if I mailed you an adobe acrobat copy of the booklet?

it can't hurt to try. at the least I may be able to take the text and seporate it from the images.

Thank you very much

Acrobat Reader will read the text for you. You don't even have to select the text in the PDF. At least it does it on the Mac version. The feature is called "Read Out Loud."

I am speechless. By putting this together you have done our community a great service. A thousand laurels upon your head, and many thanks for advancing our just cause.

Its terrible... it feels like an all out war just because ignorant people don't think we should be here. I wish I wasn't talking from experience but everyday is literally a barrage of these kinds of comments and I'm just glad that these views are becoming socially unacceptable.

Representative Andy Harris (R) District 1, Maryland, is my House Representative. He is a dinosaur when it comes to LGBT equality. I sent the following message to him via his government web page: "Now that you have lost the marriage equality issue in Maryland, Let's work on the separation of church and state.": http://holybulliesandheadlessmonsters.blogspot.com/2013/01/how-they-see-us-unmasking-religious.html#.UPGUnlm9KQg.facebook

Hi everyone. I am a Christian. I want you all to know that yes, some see you just like the propoganda says. And some of us see LGBT people as equals. I am saddened by what some people are doing to dehumanize the LGBT community. I am not sure how many Christians will take this booklet seriously, but I wish they will come to understand the hurt and pain they are causing. We are not called to hurt and cause pain. We are not supposed to judge people outside the church (1 Cor 5:12). Please know that there are some of us, even in non-affirming churches, that love and care about the LGBT community. There are people like Andrew Marin in Chicago who are working to make it better.

@April...Know that your understanding and practice of Christianity is actually that of MOST Christians in The Unites States (imho). You are among great company and as a gay man I can never thank you and yours enough for your honesty and friendship. I am proud to have allies in you and your fellow Christians. Thank you so very much.

More importantly April, you have spoken out by posting a supportive comment here. Without the majority of Christians, those who share YOUR Christian values, speaking out and standing for equality, we can never win the battle against this terrible evil in our wonderful country.

I wish and pray for your and our continued courage and strength to simply say "NO" to these sad sad people and to speak out for the truth in every way we can.

With the publication above and the wonderful work of many others, we can overcome our own inability to Speak To The Lies With Truth and stand strong, together, as a loving and respectful family, brothers and sisters in true equality.

Blessed Be.
