Disgustingly anti-gay documentary has an atrocious theme song to match

In several posts, People for the American Way's Right Wing Watch has been chronicling a wacky and vile anti-gay documentary by infamous activist Janet Porter.

This documentary ironically called "Light Wins" features Republican presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rand Paul, as well as lots of discredited information such as the work of anti-gay activists John R. Diggs and David Barton.

Central to this documentary, as with anything anti-gay,  is the claim that gays are wanting to recruit children. The following is a clip featuring that madness:

And hold on to yourselves. This documentary has its own theme song, which is as bad as the documentary itself:

How in the hell is someone supposed to "tootsie roll" to that?

I love that this hideous documentary is called "Light Wins", but one of the clips of it posted on RightWingWatch shows how gay people are "lighting fires" across the US.

And then the stupid thing ends with a bunch of people holding up lit cell phones to "expose homosexuality."

I guess it never occurred to Janet "disgusting trash" Porter that fire is a hell of a lot brighter than a cell phone... and that she has ironically predicted that we are razing evil influences like hers and thus, yes, we, i.e. Light, will win, Janet.

Look, as long as these people live in the hateful 32 cubit inch bubble called "American Fundamentalism" they're essentially going to believe anything about ANYONE they hate and fear. This movie, in spite of its egregious lies and nazi-style junk-science slander, is simply going to feed the conscience-seared Pharisees of America exactly what they want to hear. It's like prostitutes to Charlie Sheen. How can they say no?

These people, like Dammit Janet, have squandered most of their God-appointed time on earth oppressing and slandering people accompanied by scores of bible passages that describe their arrogance and sin. I think a lot of these pseudo-Christians are going to have a big awakening on THAT DAY.

In the words of Jesus himself: "But woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven! For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in." Matt 23:13

Enough said.

People like Pat Robertson, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, and the members of the John Birch Society's inspired Tea Party aren't humorous, or hilarious, or respectable. They are not entertaining... they are nothing short of disgusting.

Make no mistake about it - such people are dangerous! Americans are still reeling from the hate-inspired shooting in South Carolina, yet these "conservative" leaders don't consider it necessary to examine their own complicity in stirring up hate in far right white christian males.

From Rand Paul's pronouncements that the Civil Rights Act violates the Constitution and that businesses have every right to refuse to serve minorities, to Huckabee's childish rants that he will defy any ruling by SCOTUS in favor of marriage equality - these positions are anti-American and anti-democratic. These men don't respect religious freedom! They promote the right of bigots to divide through preaching hate and dissension.

It's long past time that Americans stopped being afraid to offend these self-pitying Pharisees. If evangelicals are victims - it's a victimhood of their own making. They are like sharks who smell blood in the water... They sense an insular minority is unpopular with their base and they persecute it with the use of myth and stereotypes. (Example: Gays use children to "recruit". That's just preposterous. Evidence suggests preferences are hard-wired. In fact, the latest studies are demonstrating that sexual preference is already established by pre-school).

We are a nation of laws, yet these people openly admit that they plan to defy any laws they disagree with. That's a clear indication they are unfit to serve in public office. A public servant is elected to serve EVERYONE - not just people on the fringe.

It's not only time to remove the Confederate flag, it's time to remove bigots and homophobes... and to speak out against their vile beliefs. It's only until they are shamed into silence that we can address the racism and homophobia that exists in America.
