Sermon reveals problem between gays and the black church
The sermon from two years ago by Roosevelt Wright Jr. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church is kinda conflicted. On one hand, the minister spreads all sorts of inaccuracies about gay men (i.e. imply pedophilia), but on the other hand, his words reveal the duplicity going on in the black church.
BT, I have long thought the gay community must help the Black Church understand that, while the church has been a source of community, succor and strength for African Americans over the generations, it has been a source of pain, despair and discrimination for lgbt people. I don't know how the dialogue gets opened, but it should. Thanks for sharing. Jimcracky
JimCracky, the black church has been a source of oppression for all that attend since the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's. When white people saw the social movement was centered in churches they were terrorized into submission and bamboozled into worship of white Jesus. White people convinced the folks that the boycotting, marches, and civil disobedience was not what brought about changes in the law, no they lead them to believe it was Jesus. Which is why they have so much faith and not actions.
