I would have waited to honor the Pope until it's clearer whether Bergolio represents a change in tone or in policy. His appointments have been right-wing and he has explicitly noted that RC teaching remains the same antigay stuff. And even the change in tone is bitterly opposed among the hierarchy appointed by Voytla and Ratz.
ReplyDeleteEdie Windsor would have been a good choice, but Edward Snowdon in opening a window on the secret government that's been running the US from backstage is probably the person with the most impact. But as a Twitter observed, the Pope will sell newsstand copies.
