This is the commercial which has led Franklin Graham to pull his ministry's finances from Wells Fargo and suggest that other "Christians" begin boycotting the bank. And by the way, via email, the Family Research Council supports his sentiments.
Wells Fargo may be the first American bank to feature a lesbian ad -- but it may also be the last. The outrage over these in-your-face commercials is finally reaching a boiling point with consumers, who are sick and tired of watching companies pitch agendas over products. American powerhouses like General Mills, Tiffany & Co., Amazon, Starbucks, Tylenol, Target, Nabisco, Alaska Airlines, and even Betty Crocker are tripping over themselves to pander to 2.3% of the buying public with intense LGBT advocacy. Like us, Rev. Franklin Graham has had enough. In response to Wells Fargo's new ad, the son of evangelist Billy Graham is making an enormous withdrawal: his ministry's accounts. On Facebook, Franklin challenged Christians to take a long, hard look at where their money is going.
Mr. Franklin Graham, just what is the problem with this ad? Are you claiming that the commercial celebrates sin? If so, who are you to dictate what sin is? And that's not even the point. You seem to be saying that it is wrong for Wells Fargo to even acknowledge the fact that same-sex families exist. You seem to demanding that facet of American society, who has done you NO harm, shouldn't be acknowledged; that they should be erased, omitted, yanked from the view of the American public simply because YOU think they are sinful.
You are certainly free to bank where you wish, but the larger message you are sending is simply un-Christian. And you have the temerity to do these things cause you say you love us?
If I wanted love like that, I would go to jail cells of all of the men locked up for domestic violence and pick out four or five to date.
"If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury."
ReplyDelete- Exodus 22:25 (KJV)
"Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him."
- Ezekiel 18:13 (KJV)
If Graham and the FRC are so concerned about the Bible, one has to wonder why they are supporting banks at all.
What a misrepresentation of Christianity (the belief in and following of CHRIST and His teachings) Franklin Graham is. He is the kind of religious (I won't call him Christian) person that Jesus called hypocrites and snakes. I "grew up" with Franklin's father, Billy, who my family and I have liked and respected for many, many years (I'm 70 now). While I don't agree with Billy on everything he believes (I do believe as he does that salvation is obtained only by believing and trusting Jesus for it), I'd be very surprised if he agrees with what Franklin is doing. If he does, I'd be very disappointed in him too.
ReplyDeleteMy mother donated to the Billy Graham Association for many years. There are books, pictures, CDs, etc. here that was sent to her by them. She stopped sending when I told her that Billy wasn't at the helm any more, that it was Franklin who was now running it. She was not as "liberal" as I am but she didn't like Franklin either so she never sent any more. I told them to remove her name from their mailing list and why.
I wonder if Franklin considers divorced and remarried heterosexuals to be living a "godless lifestyle" as I heard on PBS this morning that he called our same sex relationships. Jesus said that "the love of money" (he didn't say sex) is the root of all evil but Franklin doesn't seem to have a problem dealing with "godless" institutions like banks who exist for the sole purpose of making all the money they can. He only has a problem with them if they portray same sex couples as equal to opposite sex couples. What a stinking hypocrite and piece of crap he is and a disgrace to the name Graham as well as to the name Christian.
