The entities accusing LGBTQ people of grooming children have focused on a new target. And they are finding out there is such thing as doing too much.
According to LGBTQNation:
Conservatives have spent the last couple months calling everyone who disagrees with them a pedophile, and now they’re setting their sights on the Trevor Project, an organization that runs a hotline and other resources to fight LGBTQ youth suicide.
I knew a gay guy in DC years ago who was nearly totally deaf because his father hit him in the head with a cast iron skillet after learning he was gay. Do you think that could be a reason? You ghouls.

The “full stop” here is that if you have a problem with abuse hotlines including a feature to help callers keep their contact a secret, on the basis that they might discuss things involving sex, then you’re OK with e.g. helping sexual abusers control their victims.

This is a suicide and abuse hotline. If the child is reporting that they are being abused by their parents why should the parents be notified of that report

This happened to a friend of mine in high school. Then, his dad tried to beat him straight. He took his life senior year.

When a friend of mine came out as trans, their father held a knife to their crotch and threatened to "make them trans." Despite feeling unsafe and telling the authorities, they are still forced to stay at that home. There is a reason these resources exist, safety. https://t.co/rvLEyOmnT0

Why are there any parents who are willing to beat their kids, throw them out into the street, or otherwise harm them if the children are #LGBTQ?
— David JensenπΊπΈπ»π©π° (@DAJensen07) April 27, 2022
When no such parents exist, no children will have to hide who they are.
Because many LGBTQ kids have horrid, abusive parents who make it unsafe for them to be honest with them.

Why is @Moms4Liberty encouraging violence against LGBTQ kids?
— Jim Raffensperger (@jimraffjim) April 27, 2022
It goes on and on and on and on. And makes me happy to see folks standing up for LGBTQ kids. It should send a message to these idiots who are trying to equate anything pro-LGBTQ with 'grooming' children and pedophilia.@TrevorProject seeks to keep kids safe , by allowing them to talk to others, provide them with an outlet to talk , resources and prevent suicide with trained counselors. They are an amazing life saving program, which ANY LOVING parent should be grateful their child has access to

But at least it's nice to draw that line in the sand and make the simple point that you will not spew lies about the Trevor Project without expecting a huge blowback. And I doubt it's going to be just the LGBTQ community.
But go ahead and be stupid if you so desire. By all means, f@ck around and find out. I guarantee you that this will not be a fight you will want.
Big hat tip to LGBTQNation.
I am so sick and tired of these "conservatives" and their lies and innuendos. And the responses telling the stories of abuse and even murder made me sad beyond words...and angry. I applaud the responders to the haters. I am of the Act-up and Gay Lib generation and we fought hard to gain rights and a modicum of respect. I thought we had made progress and even educated some ignorant people. Now I see all those marches, educational programs for "straights" and legislative initiatives going up in flames. What is this backlash, especially targeting Trans kids? We need new ammunition.
ReplyDeleteWe will get what we need to fight back and win. We just need to remember that complacency is dangerous because evil never rests.
DeleteThis whole mess moved me to make a donation to The Trevor Project this morning. Hopefully, there will be LGBTQ+ motivation to do the same.
ReplyDelete"And I doubt it's going to be just the LGBTQ community."
ReplyDeleteDamn straight. (pun intended?) It will involve us allies as well.
I'm 53, The Trevor Project didn't exist when I was a teenager, but we did have a local hotline. It was great to call and talk to someone who knew what I was going through. To imply anything seemly about this group is beyond despicable.
