Matt Barber seeks to end feud with Porno Petey by painting the Liberty Counsel as liars

Yesterday, I brought you an interesting story regarding religious right figures Matt Barber, Peter LaBarbera and Randy Thomas and their organizations (Americans for Truth, Liberty Counsel and Exodus International) feuding over a very rude comment made by Barber on LaBarbera's webpage about the lgbt community:

It boils down to this: there is nothing “conservative” about — as (Matt)Barber inimitably puts it — “one man violently cramming his penis into another man’s lower intestine and calling it ‘love.’” Or two women awkwardly mimicking natural procreative relations or raising a child together in an intentionally fatherless home.

The Liberty Counsel said that Barber never made such a statement:

“Neither Matt Barber nor anyone with Liberty Counsel wrote or made any such public statement that is being alleged in this blog. Liberty Counsel promotes the traditional family of one man and one woman because we believe that such relationships are best for society and for children. While we strongly disagree with the sexual politics and agenda of activist organizations and individuals, we also believe that each person is entitled to respect. While there are some that hate us because of our message of sexual integrity, redemption, change, and hope, we have never, and will never, confuse the person with the agenda. We have never sought to dehumanize people to promote our message. Our message is one of redemption through the power of Jesus Christ.”

But LaBarbera stuck to his guns, even verbally attacking Exodus International Vice President Randy Thomas.

Well today via LaBarbera's webpage comes the news from Barber that he did make the comment, but before joining the Liberty Counsel:

“This is for clarification only. As affirmed in Liberty Counsel’s statement, neither I nor anyone with Liberty Counsel ever publicly ‘wrote or made’ the comment in question – an unapologetically direct and accurate depiction of the sin of sodomy (a sin that God directly and accurately calls both an ‘abomination’ and ‘detestable’). Some years before I began working with Liberty Counsel, I made the comment in private conversation with Peter LaBarbera. At the time, Peter asked if he could ‘quote me on it’ and I said yes.

So the Liberty Counsel was wrong for claiming that Barber never made the comment in the first place. LaBarbera was equally in the wrong because he took the comment made a few years ago and affixed it to a situation which it had nothing to do with (in this case objecting to a gay conservative group co-sponsoring the Conservative Political Action Conference.)

And Barber was wrong for making such a nasty comment in the first place.

Here is the funny part. In his "clarification statement," Barber tries to play nice with the lgbt community.

“On a personal note, let me take this opportunity to share with those caught-up in this particular sin lifestyle that I am no less a sinner and no better a person than they. None of us are. The good news is that, through Christ’s earth shattering sacrifice on the cross, we are redeemed. We need merely believe, call upon His name, repent and make every effort to ‘go and sin no more.’

Unfortunately, however, we live in a society where this particular sin is embraced, promoted and even celebrated. People erroneously equate this unnatural and sinful behavior with ‘identity’ and ‘orientation’ even taking ‘pride’ in an objectively deviant lifestyle. My hope and prayer is that this silly faux ‘controversy’ might actually make people reflect –– if only for a moment –– upon the emotionally, spiritually and physically destructive nature of homosexual conduct. ‘Gayness’ is about what people do, not who people are. It’s about feelings and behaviors alone. But those feelings and behaviors don’t make those caught-up in them any less precious to God, to me or to anyone I know.

Barber's self-righteousness is so damn indicative of folks on his side of this so-called cultural war.

Apparently according to Barber, it's our fault he reduces our lives to his fevered beliefs of how we have sex.

We are making him do it because we are so proud of being sinners.

That's the same line a domestic abuser gives to his victim - "you are making me do this."

A little message from this "gay sinner," Mr. Barber - don't talk about being wanting to redeem people through the blood of Christ after basing an entire career of gay bashing on the myth that you were fired from your job after writing an anti-gay column "on your own time," but omitting the fact that you used company equipment to do it or identified yourself as an employee of the company in the column.

Don't talk about how Christian you are after you have shown yourself willing to lie, villify, and attack people on a personal basis.

And most of all, remember that comment about glass houses and stones, Matt.

If I were you, I would watch for the breaking glass.

Where does BamBam Get off grading God's writing? How does BamBam know God 'accurately' describes the qualities of the particular sex act in question? And if God characterization of anything He calls an 'abomonation' is 'accurate', why didn't Barber listen to God when he ordered the $15 Surf'n'turf special at the national chain steak-and-salad-bar restaurant?
