Generally when I showcase anti-gay figures and their comments, I always provide some expository. However, the following comment by marriage equality opponent Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is so mind-blowingly stupid that it can stand on its own.when it comes to illustrating the basic ignorance of many of those who oppose marriage equality and lgbt equality in general:

"You're taking any definition of a family away. When two bisexuals or two
transgendered marry, how large is that family? Can they marry two
persons, one of the same sex and one of the opposite sex? Then, you've
got a family of four or how many?" - Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore

This is the best secular argument he can come up with? It is nothing more than the "slippery slope" argument that has gone nowhere.
ReplyDeleteTo say that religion has not influenced any of our laws would be either ignorant or a lie. Look at some of the "Blue Laws" still on the books in many states.
It boggles the mind to see this man Cherry-picking his oath of office and attempting to back this up by citing the Bible and religion. He chooses not to see that declaring Biblical law is against the Federal Constitution he vowed to uphold. (Which trumps what may be instituted in his state.)
The only way Mr. Moore and others can declare Biblical law is for the Federal Government to first declare their religion as the legal base in this country. Something that is clearly prohibited.
Their slippery slope is so tacky if it were a pool slide everyone would be trapped at the top of the ladder and there'd not be a ripple on the pool below.
