Not a long post and certainly not one meant to be ugly. And I certainly hope that no one responding will be rude. Let's not go in for personal insults.
At its recent gala, the Log Cabin Republicans awarded former First Lady Melania Trump "with the Spirit of Lincoln Award for her commitment to enhancing personal freedom, encouraging individual responsibility, and ensuring equality under the law for all Americans."
I have a simple question. What the heck did she ever do for the LGBTQ community? Name me one thing. Just one.

Personally, I got nothing.
Maybe it is more about them trying to prove they are still relevant in the 21st Century?
Marriage Equality was achieved under Obama (because Biden started that narrative) and now there really is nothing left to the Log Cabin argument of trying to work within a deeply hostile political party to achieve that very goal.
But, what to do?
Hand out an award as a way to say, "We are still here."
Well, fine, they are.
But they really have never achieved anything.
Nor will they.
Was she even present to receive it?? Or was it given "In absentia"???
Although I find them personally to be both political traitors and obnoxious. I would not be so quick to discount them as irrelevant. I wonder how many Lindsey Graham's have slithered their way out of that group and into politics.
