Donald Trump is dragging down the evangelical anti-LGBTQ right, so let's enjoy the show

Will Franklin Graham continue to think Trump is good for Christianity after shocking new revelations? Probably so . . .

Do we need anymore proof that the anti-LGBTQ industry (otherwise known as the religious right and conservative evangelicals) are supporting Trump simply because what he gives them what they want in terms of policies and either ignores his behavior or makes excuses (i,e. "Trump is a 'baby Christian'") for it?

Of course not. But it wouldn't hurt to remind people - specifically those religious leaders who support Trump - of what they are doing. Therefore I want to initiate a game which I will be playing every now and then throughout 2018. I am going to post statements - via tweets, articles, etc - from various religious right leaders praising Trump for his "commitment" to Christianity and morals. Then I will posting other statements which, shall we say, questions the veracity of those who are attempting to paint Trump as the new token saint of Christianity.

First up is Franklin Graham, who has been vocally supportive to the point of lunacy with his inferences that Trump is bringing God to the forefront "again" or is defending Christianity like no other president:

One wonders if Graham will continue to pump that "sugar" after learning what we've all learned today about various actions and statements Trump made via an upcoming explosive book, Fire and Fury.

Fire and Fury talks about Trump winning the 2016 election and the chaotic scene of his Administration thus far:

1. MSNBC obtained a copy of the book and NBC News’ former embedded reporter with the Trump campaign, Katy Tur, tweeted a highlighted section.
“Trump liked to say that one of the things that made life worth living was getting your friends’ wives into bed,” the starred paragraph begins. “In pursuing a friend’s wife, he would try to persuade the wife that her husband was perhaps not what she thought. Then he’d have his secretary ask the friend into his office; once the friend arrived, Trump would engage in what was, for him, more or less constant sexual banter. Do you still like having sex with your wife? How often? You must have had a better f*ck than your wife? Tell me about it. I have girls coming in from Los Angeles at three o’clock. We can go upstairs and have a great time. I promise … And all the while, Trump would have his friend’s wife on the speakerphone, listening in,” the book reported.

2. MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing, reading from the book live on air, revealed yet another shocking detail, this one about White House Communications Director Hope Hicks and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
. . .Hope Hicks and Corey Lewandowski, who, according to the book, had an on and off again romantic relationship, and he was, of course, fired in 2016 for clashing with Trump family members,” Jansing reminded. “And this is what the book says “Hicks sat in Trump Tower with Trump and his sons, worried about Lewandowski’s treatment in the press and wondering aloud how she might help him. Trump, who otherwise seemed to treat Hicks in a protective and even paternal way, looked up and said, ‘Why? You’ve already done enough for him. you’re the best piece of tail he’ll ever have’ sending Hicks running from the room,” Jansing read.

3. President Trump called former acting Attorney General Sally Yates "a c---" before firing her, according to an explosive new book about the Trump administration.
An excerpt of Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury” obtained by MSNBC contained the anecdote. “Trump conceived an early, obsessive antipathy for Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates,” the book reads. “She was, he steamed, ‘such a c---.’”
One of Trump’s first actions as president was firing Yates after she refused to have the Justice Department uphold his initial travel ban that blocked people from seven majority-Muslim countries.

Most likely, Graham and all of those other "Christian leaders" who have anointed Trump the best thing which ever happened to Christianity since Jesus Himself will either be silent over these eyebrow raising revelations. Or they will make excuses.

Even though I'm hoping for the excuses because they would be epic, I'm leaning towards the silent treatment. But the main point of my new project is to send Graham and the rest of the anti-LGBTQ industry a message:

We see what you are doing here and you aren't fooling anybody. You are only revealing what you truly are behind your masks of piety.

Hat tip to my friend Joe Sudbay for giving me the idea for this post.

Want to know about black gay men? Hush and listen to what a black gay man is telling you

This video is almost a year old but the knowledge it contains is evergreen. Not only does it make a point about the specificity of growing up as a black gay man, but what's happening here is a general lesson we should take to heart.

Let me put it another way. Whenever that odious sob Bill O'Reilly did a show on racial issues, I knew what to expect from him. He would either not have any African-Americans on that specific show or when he did, he always talked over them or yelled at them. He didn't care to listen to what they had to say because he was too busy creating the narrative, i.e. in this case it was the stupid generalization that black people blame whites for all of our problems. That was the thing which always pissed me off. He NEVER listened. He was too busy barking at black people or about black people and telling us what our problem was - something he never knew - that he didn't care what we had to say.

So basically what I am saying is that while this video is about listening to black gay men talk about their lives, its message is a general one. If you want to know what we think, don't tell us what we think. Listen to what we have to say. And that message goes for wanting to know more about  transgender, bisexual, lesbian, and other communities be they racial, religious, gender-related, etc.

Sometimes when you hush your mouth and listen to people, you learn so  much more than you would if you chose to argue with them about their lives.

'Ex-gay' video hit with much deserved Facebook dragging

In its heyday, the "ex-gay" movement was a somewhat successful tool used by the anti-LGBTQ industry to undermine our rights and equality. Today it's slowly but satisfyingly dying as people see the lies that it encompasses, particularly many of those who were its loudest soldiers.

However, some folks just can't get the hint, as the above video featuring a young girl who is claiming that she is no longer a lesbian shows. It is from one of those "Oh look! we are contemporary and hip Christian" organizations" Anchored North.

Anchored North, however, is getting the hint as many viewers and responders are making it their first mission of 2018 to drag the group and the video all over Facebook.

 From Raw Story:

The video has racked up more than 1.3 million views on Facebook. But many of the top comments on the video are critical of its message.
“This little video is enough to push gay kids over the edge to suicide. If God changed her, why didn’t the prayers of my daughter count? So so wrong,” one Facebook user said. “I’m willing to bet good money that she is on the bisexual spectrum, or else she is really doing an injustice being in a relationship with that young man. Let me tell anyone who is gay and watching this video that God created you just exactly as you are.”
“This is Christians using a fear tactic to make this girl question everything and become brainwashed into their thinking and it sickens me to no end,” another user commented. “I had to break free from the toxicity of the church to be able to be who I am today. I’m not perfect but I know I’m a lot happier than I was before and I feel free. Being a Christian was living in fear and always feeling bound and a slave to a deity.”
“This is inhumane and brainwashing. Truly disgusting. Born gay, born a sinner? What in the world. No one should feel ashamed for who they are,” another wrote.

'Trump fires entire White House HIV/AIDS Council with no explanation' & other Fri midday news briefs

In getting rid of the entire White House HIV/AIDS Council, Trump (first picture) undermines the fight against HIV/AIDS just like a member of his evangelical advisory council, Gary Bauer (second picture), did when he worked in the Reagan Administration during the early days of the crisis.

Trump just fired the entire White House HIV/AIDS Council - In getting rid of the White House HIV/AIDS Council, Trump has just undermine the fight against HIV/AIDS much like a member of his evangelical advisory council, Gary Bauer, did in the early days of the HIV/AIDS crisis when he worked in the Reagan White House. Roy Moore's spokesperson once made an awful anti-LGBTQ documentary featuring the GOP

Without question, the MVP of insanity throughout this entire Roy Moore Senate run is one of his spokespeople, Janet Porter.

Via her insanely combative interviews and even wilder conspiracy theories, Porter probably did more to hurt Moore's campaign, short of the allegations that he chased after underaged girls.

But to those who have been watching Porter while being aghast at her tactics, the LGBTQ community has one thing to say::

Where the hell have y'all been. We've known about Ms. Porter for years because she isn't exactly a friend of our community. In fact, she has been a bane against us as long as I can remember. I could count the number of times going back to 1997, but for the sake of levity and desire to spotlight the most egregious, let's talk about the "documentary" she premiered in 2015.

“Light Wins: How To Overcome The Criminalization Of Christianity" was a spooky concoction of lies, fear tactics, badly directed scenes, and plain homophobia. It also featured a number of Republican legislators and conservative figures:

Among the participants are Rep. Steve King, Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Sen. Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, David Barton, James Dobson, Mat Staver, Phyllis Schlafly, Scott Lively, Alveda King, Brian Camenker, Frank Pavone, Robert Knight, John Stemberger, and, of course, Porter herself, who can been seen walking around in the woods with a lantern, warning that gay activists are seeking to turn Christians into criminals:

2018 Resolution - Don't let these anti-LGBTQ hate groups get away with pretending to be Christian

For 2018, as the LGBTQ community continues to fight tooth and nail for our equality, it is imperative that we do what we can to break down to America the lies perpetrated against us by groups and people who masquerade their homophobia and hate behind a religious veneer.

It is equally imperative that we don't get distracted by side arguments regarding religion in general or get tricked into having to defend or explain why we should be treated fairly. The onus needs to be on these groups such as the Family Research Council, the Alliance Defending Freedom, the American Family Association and their allies (such as Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress) who will use whatever power they have in the Trump Administration to distort the narrative. They will claim they are merely attempting to "protect Christians." That's a lie, just like their last explanation (they are "defending marriage) or the one before that (they are merely trying to keep gays from getting "special rights") and so on and so forth . . .

This so-called culture war they talk about is about what it's always been about from the beginning - depriving the LGBTQ community of our dignity and God-given rights to equality and self-determination.  In the long run, it doesn't matter how many millions they have, how polished they are in front of the press, how many times they appear on Fox News showcasing their ability to tell one-sided distortions,  or how many times they can hide their animus, the bottom line is they are lying snakes wearing masks.

And there is only one way you can properly deal with lying snakes wearing masks - rip the masks off for the world to see. Don't give them any slack. Not even a little bit.

We all know that Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, James Dobson, and the rest of the white evangelical/religious right crowd sold out God, Jesus, and Christianity to become a part of the Trump Administration. However, the above video presents the situation in such an easy-to-understand way that I think that it will be continued to be viewed years later when folks ask just why did so many people in this county abandon morality and reason to put such a vile toad in the Oval Office.

Sorry Alliance Defending Freedom, but Kelvin Cochran did not win his case

Kelvin Cochran's 'religious freedom' martyrdom failed in the courts.

No matter how much prestige it may receive or how thick  the cloak of morality it may drape itself with, an organization dedicated to undermining  LGBTQ equality via lies and misdirection will always show itself as the brazen nest of hypocrites it is.

I speak of the anti-LGBTQ hate group the Alliance Defending Freedom. Today it claimed a victory in court regarding a fired Atlanta fire chief. However it turns out that their cheering was a simple misdirection:

A federal district court ruled Wednesday that city of Atlanta rules which led to the termination of Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran are unconstitutional. The court found that the city’s policies restricting non-work speech, like a book for Christian men that Cochran wrote, are too broad and allow city officials to unconstitutionally discriminate against views with which they disagree.
“The government can’t force its employees to get its permission before engaging in free speech,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot, who argued before the court on behalf of Cochran last month. “In addition, as the court found, the city can’t leave such decisions to the whims of government officials. This ruling benefits not only Chief Cochran, but also other employees who want to write books or speak about matters unrelated to work. Atlanta can no longer force them to get permission or deny them permission just because certain officials disagree with the views expressed.”
With regard to the city’s “pre-clearance” rules, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia wrote in its decision in Cochran v. City of Atlanta, “This policy would prevent an employee from writing and selling a book on golf or badminton on his own time and, without prior approval, would subject him to firing. It is unclear to the Court how such an outside employment would ever affect the City’s ability to function, and the City provides no evidence to justify it…. The potential for stifled speech far outweighs an unsupported assertion of harm.”
The court added that provisions within the rules “do not set out objective standards for the supervisor to employ.” “This does not pass constitutional muster,” the court concluded.
Cochran wrote a 162-page devotional book on his personal time that briefly mentions his Christian views on sex and marriage. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed suspended Cochran for 30 days without pay and announced that he would have to complete “sensitivity training.” Reed then fired him, even though a city investigation concluded that he did not discriminate against anyone.

This press release by ADF omitted a lot of information as to what the court actually said. In truth, Cochran won on only two claims he filed. However, he lost on the claims of free speech retaliation, viewpoint discrimination, and association.

News brief special - Trump, religious right team up in attempt to devastate LGBTQ equality, health, and wellness

Before the election, Trump said he would be an advocate for the LGBTQ community if he won.
Now that he is in The White House, Trump is giving unfettered access and power to those "faith leaders" who gained prominence undermining LGBTQ equality while labeling the LGBTQ community as "pedophiles," "confused people,"
"tools of Satan," and purveyors of a "dangerous lifestyle."

Trump’s Judicial Assault on LGBT Rights - "Trump’s record speed and the alarmingly high number of nominees with anti-LGBT records whom he is advancing is triggering a growing judicial crisis for LGBT people. Nearly one-in-three have records that demonstrate hostility towards the rights of LGBT people. While several of these nominees are anti-LGBT activists who have openly denigrated LGBT people and families, others have more quietly undermined LGBT rights and protections."

The Year The Religious Right Moved Into The White House - Just in case you didn't see this, a wonderful break down of the many ways the anti-LGBTQ/evangelical right has taken advantage of its power in the Trump Administration. An excerpt:
February 2: Trump gathers conservative leaders, including representatives from the NRA, the Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Tax Reform, along with the Susan B. Anthony List’s Dannenfelser, Concerned Women for America’s Nance, National Right to Life’s David O’Steen, Charmaine Yoest of American Values and, of course, Paula White, to personally thank him for the Gorsuch nomination and to discuss the confirmation fight ahead.
February 23: The departments of justice and education withdraw protections for transgender students in public schools that had been implemented by the Obama administration. Religious Right groups express their gratitude.
March 13: HHS announces its intention to eliminate “questions seeking to identify gay, lesbian and bisexual elders in a U.S. health survey.” The plan is later dropped.
March 24: ProPublica reports that the Trump administration has “quietly appointed” former Heritage Foundation official Roger Severino to head the HHS Office for Civil Rights.
March 29: The Census Bureau proposes and then quickly un-proposes counting LGBTQ people in the 2020 census.
April 7: Neil Gorsuch is confirmed to the Supreme Court.
April 10: Nance and Dannenfelser go to the White House to celebrate with Gorsuch.

HHS under fire for proposal overseen by former anti-LGBTQ hate group employee

Shannon Royce, head of HHS's Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is causing a controversy over a proposal which could negatively affect the health of women and the transgender community. In addition, eyebrows are being raised as to how public comments deemed negative to the proposal are being allegedly censored by HHS. Lastly, Royce's former tenure as chief operating officer of the anti-LGBTQ hate group the Family Research Council has to be factored in on both the fairness of the proposal and the accusations regarding the comments.

Editor's note - I'm running this post early because I figure after that final vote on that awful GOP tax bill, our minds will be caught up elsewhere.

The Department of Health and Human Services is now under fire for a decision which could negatively affect women seeking abortions and transgender men and women seeking medical care.

And it looks like a former employee of  anti-LGBTQ hate group the Family Research Council is linked to it.

From Politico:

HHS is defending its decision to withhold more than 10,000 public comments on a proposal that could affect access to abortion and care for transgender patients.
“There has been a voluminous response to the [request for information], and the center’s team is working through a review of the submissions,” Shannon Royce, who leads the agency’s Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships and is overseeing the proposal, said in a statement on Monday night.
The Trump administration in October sought public comments on its plan to reduce HHS' regulations for religious and faith-based groups. Allies and opponents of the plan say the stakes are high: Loosening the current requirements could allow such groups to cite religious exemptions and deny certain services and care. For example, Catholic hospitals could gain new protections to refuse to provide abortions.
. . . While HHS received 10,729 comments on its proposal, the agency has only posted 80 comments — less than 1 percent of all submissions — that overwhelmingly back the administration’s anti-abortion policies or attack regulations advanced by the Obama administration, such as a rule forcing health care providers that accept federal funding to provide services to transgender patients. Sources with knowledge of HHS' decision say the agency hand-picked the comments that it released.

According to the article, lawyers from all sides are bickering over whether or not this is illegal, with some saying that it really doesn't matter at all.

However, the article also contains an item which, if we lived in a world where people weren't so oblivious about certain things which are so obvious, would properly explain the fears some have about this policy and especially how it is being presented.

The person overseeing the proposal, Shannon Royce, served as chief operating officer the Family Research Council  until May of this year.

Politico calls Royce an anti-abortion activist and the Southern Poverty Law Center has called the Family Research Council an anti-LGBTQ hate group because it spreads negative and false narratives about the LGBTQ community (such as claiming that gay men molest children at a high level or implying homosexuality itself is a public health hazard).

In recent years, FRC has aimed a lot of its efforts in denigrating the transgender community, including creating false policy papers filled with dubious claims and nasty rhetoric or lying about transgender troops serving in the military.

So to cut through all of the blather, this is the controversy:

HHS is issuing a proposal which could negatively affect a woman's access to an abortion and the transgender community's access to medical care in general because of the "religious liberty" argument.  The agency invited the public to give comments on this proposal but published less than one percent of the comments, with the majority being from people who support the proposal.

And the proposal is being overseen by a person who opposes abortions and, until very recently, was a high ranking officer in an organization who is known to have spread false stories and dubious claims about the transgender community.

It's safe to say suggest that this proposal and the seemingly unscrupulous way it is being handled has nothing to do with fairness, safety, or health. Unfortunately, it's all about ideology.

'The press must stop being so compliant with anti-LGBTQ hate groups' & other Tue midday news briefs

The Alliance Defending Freedom was able to hide its anti-gay animus under the monikers of 'conservatism' and 'religion.'

A compliant press helped bring Alliance Defending Freedom's anti-LGBTQ hate back into the mainstream in 2017 -I totally agree. The media must give full nuances about groups such as the Alliance Defending Freedom by giving their entire history of undermining the LGBTQ community. When they have representatives of these groups on their shows, they need to ask the penetrating questions about their actions.  It's especially up to our community, leadership, and press to aggressively school everyone on the issue of anti-LGBTQ hate groups. Stop falling for their narratives, stop getting sidetracked with off-tangent discussions on religion et al, and stop allowing them to lead the debates. This is about anti-LGBTQ propaganda and hatred in a general sense, not singular pitched battles over bakeries, cakes, and florist shops.

The Family Research Council dishonestly defends Trump's banned word list

Family Research Council head Tony Perkins and his group applauds Trump banning words.

To the surprise of no one who has followed the pseudo-Christian organization, the Family Research Council is applauding the Trump Administration's banning of seven words and phrases ("vulnerable," "diversity," "entitlement," "transgender," "fetus," "evidence-based," and "science-based.") for use by the Centers for Disease Control and other government agencies in official budget documents.

In fact, FRC calls it "standard procedure" and a move to "bring the country back to reality"

For once, it's not what the Trump administration is saying that's raising the media's eyebrows -- it's what they aren't saying. Heading into the weekend, the Washington Post sparked an interesting debate over the power of words when it reported that officials at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) were asked to avoid certain terms in their budget requests.
The Post treated the news as if it were an unusual -- and even troubling -- development. Among the taboos, reporters write worriedly, are words like "diversity," "transgender," "entitlement," "fetus," "evidence-based," and "science-based." As usual, the liberal media ginned up plenty of outrage over the changes, despite the fact that this is a standard practice of every administration. President Obama understood better than anyone that if you control the language, you control the debate. In fact, we've watched the far Left use this strategy for years on everything from religious liberty to life. "Abortion" became a "choice." "Liberals" are "progressives." And suddenly, it's not "same-sex marriage" but "marriage equality."

An open letter to the conservative gay man who called my blog 'anti-Christian'

I'm not familiar with Chad Felix Greene, except that I blocked him for some reason.  Based upon what he posted about my blog on Friday, blocking him was a good idea. However since he called me out, I think it's my duty to answer back.

From the looks of him, Mr. Greene seems to be one of those bougie individuals who isn't negatively touched by homophobia as much as us so-called "plain queers." His routine seems to be allowing himself to be used by conservative publications and groups in order to tell us LGBTQs that we are hysterical victims of "leftist leaders." exploiting us for personal benefit.

And on this occasion, he had the hypocrisy to make this argument for The Federalist, a right-wing publication who is obviously exploiting him. The particular piece I am talking about is a self-righteous piece of tripe called No, Lifting ‘Net Neutrality’ Doesn’t Hurt Gay People, in which makes the argument that lifting net neutrality (even though it has caused alarm in many circles) isn't harmful to gays.

To Green, it's the people  sounding the alarm about lifting net neutrality who are the actual dangers. And in his post, the following the part which sent me into orbit, so to speak:

The final layer of argument relies on the idea that those who pay more will get a faster lane than those who pay less. Alvin McEwen of the anti-Christian LGBT blog titled “Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters” described this as an intentional way to keep LGBT people ignorant and afraid. Again, given the current social climate, this is preposterous.

This is what I tweeted him back:

My friend, I read your post about net neutrality. While I disagree with all of it, I take GREAT offense with you calling my blog anti-Christian. My blog focuses on the lies told about the LGBTQ community by whose who hide behind a religious veneer. It seems that the only reason why you label me anti-Christian because you think that white conservative evangelicals have the patent on the word "Christianity." It always amazes me how people like you want to bogart the argument on faith but then portray yourselves a victims because someone else won't let you do it.
I am not anti-Christian because I don't think that true Christians bear false witness against a community, use junk science & out-and-out lies to denigrate a community, such as people on your side of the spectrum and your newspaper has done. The fact you consider me anti-Christian because I demand integrity from the anti-LGBTQ evangelical right is sad. The fact added on that you are a gay man doing this is abominable.
I am a black gay man from the South. That means unlike you, I do not have the luxury 2 hide behind pseudo-intelligence and a self-righteous ignorance to denigrate my own people.. You are only where you are because you've made yourself useful. When you are no longer useful, you will find out that all of your pretentious attitudes and lies mean nothing. Until then, in spite of what you think u have accomplished, you are nothing more than a shoe shiner, but eagerly stooping lower than most.

And he sent me back an ugly comment:

'Anti-LGBTQ evangelical right worried that Roy Moore support made them toxic to America' & other Fri midday news briefs

Some right-wing/anti-LGBTQ evangelicals are worried that support of Roy Moore has made them toxic in the eyes of other Americans. Ya think?

Has Support for Moore Stained Evangelicals? Some Are Worried - Uh oh. Watch this. The anti-LGBTQ/evangelical/religious right are having a serious "come to Jesus" moment over their support of Roy Moore. Please. They missed several "come to Jesus" moments when they decided to smear the LGBTQ community time after time again. What you are watching now is akin to the slow sinking of the Titanic. I wonder if I can add a few extra holes.

After Trump and Moore, some evangelicals are finding their own label too toxic to use - I personally think the LGBTQ community should use this moment to point out the myriad times these folks attacked us and our families and tried to eliminate our equality and dignity. Let's be honest about something (and it needs to be repeated) - People like Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress, groups like the Family Research Council or the Heritage Foundation don't give a damn about America, nor our diversity or rules of law. They just want conservative justices to eliminate abortion and gay marriage and leaders who will build up their egos. Everything else, including their integrity, is expendable.

These Schools Get Millions Of Tax Dollars To Discriminate Against LGBTQ Students - Your "religious liberty" does not mean you have a right to steal my tax money while disrespecting me.

Kevin Swanson Blames Roy Moore’s Loss On Alabama’s Love Of Pornography - "On his radio program yesterday, extremist anti-LGBTQ pastor Kevin Swanson reacted to Roy Moore’s loss in the Senate election in Alabama earlier this week by blaming it on the state’s love of pornography, which he also warned is turning children gay." - I don't think I can write a better sentence than that so I just took it verbatim from the post.

Religious right made themselves look like immoral, power-hungry fools by supporting Roy Moore

James Dobson was among the religious right leaders who made fools of themselves by supporting Roy Moore.

With folks calling Steve Bannon and Donald Trump the big losers in Roy Moore's loss in the AL senatorial election, I am a little distressed that hardly anyone is paying attention to what the anti-LGBTQ/evangelical/religious right lost.

Remember that these groups and personalities supported Moore and doubled down even after the charges thrown at him regarding underage girls.

Rob Boston, director of Communications at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, just posted a wonderful column which spills the tea on how groups like the American Family Association and individual such as James Dobson made complete fools of themselves while exposing their true faces as power hungry demagogues:

. . . Others decided that attacking Moore’s victims was the way to go. Bryan Fischer, a columnist for the American Family Association who has made a name for himself by proffering views so extreme they’d make Cotton Mather blush, went after Corfman.

According to Fischer, Corfman “has credibility problems as a witness. She’s gone bankrupt three times, has tangled with the IRS, and has been through three divorces.” (It’s unclear how any of this discredits Corfman. And I know of someone who has had similar problems – Fischer’s hero, President Donald Trump.)
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), said that if the allegations against Moore were true, they should disqualify him from the Senate. It was tough talk, but Perkins backed it up with absolutely no action. In fact, FRC’s political action committee had earlier endorsed Moore and didn’t withdraw that support.
But perhaps the person who emerges most tattered from the Moore debacle is James C. Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family. Let’s take a minute to remember what Dobson became famous for (other than telling parents to beat their children): He is a notorious national scold, the scourge of the LGBTQ community.
. . . So Dobson was furious over Moore’s focus on teens, right? Nope. Not only did Dobson not criticize Moore, he celebrated the man. Dobson personally endorsed Moore and recorded a radio ad for him, during which he lauded Moore as “a man of proven character and integrity.” (Tell that to the girls Moore was allegedly bothering at a Gadsden mall in the late 1970s.)
. . .This incident won’t slow the Religious Right down, of course. The hypocrite brigade will continue to judge and attack others. But they’ve handed those of us who are frequent targets for their outrage a powerful weapon. Their yawing ethical void was fully opened Tuesday night, and all of America could peer into it.

An angry Roy Moore blames the LGBTQ community in part for his stunning loss' & other Thur midday news briefs

Roy Moore refuses to concede as new campaign video targets transgender people, liberal judges - Still stinging from his much deserved recent loss, Roy Moore is not only refusing to concede, but is also blaming everyone but himself for his loss. Come on, my brothers and sisters. You know you would be just a LITTLE upset if he didn't attack the LGBTQ community in his comments. Strange how the taste of someone implying that you are an enemy of God and America is so much sweeter when it happens after they've suffered a humiliating loss. Seriously, every time I see this video, I want to put on a pants suit and sit in comfortable chair  while a lovingly stroking a small Persian cat in one hand  and clutching a small glass of brandy in the other. All with an evil satisfied smirk on my face and a plot to create further chaos entrenched in my mind. And with that song "Killer Queen" playing in the background as my theme music.

LGBTQ Alabamians Played A Crucial Role In Spurring The Turnout Against Roy Moore - It turns out that he may be partially right. The Alabama wing of the United LGBTQs of America did a whipping on his behind.

Republicans bury anti-LGBTQ provisions in massive higher education bill - Let's not get so happy that we forget that we are still at war with some people determined to hinder our equality and right to self-determination.

Fears rise over LGBT discrimination in conservative Paraguay - AND let's not get forget that our struggle is worldwide.
