Unless you have been living in a cave with your fingers in your ears, you have heard about today's marriage equality victory in Virginia which has repercussions in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
Unfortunately, SC is determined to still defend its marriage equality ban. However not so much North Carolina:
You will remember that during the campaign, Wooden, a NC pastor , claimed that gay men have so much anal sex that we wear diapers. He later made a claim that a gay man had to have a cell phone removed from his rectum.
To make matters worse, on the night that his side won, he was filmed holding a cellphone in triumph:
While of course this battle is far from over, I will give you one guess what Wooden can now do with HIS cellphone.

Regardless, this is rather sweet particularly when one remembers the depths the opposition stooped to in North Carolina to get the ban passed in 2012. Isn't that right, Pastor Patrick Wooden? You will remember that during the campaign, Wooden, a NC pastor , claimed that gay men have so much anal sex that we wear diapers. I work in home care, and like a lot of people in the medical profession (which I am not, but people don’t take the hint) I get a lot of random questions about issues people have. I also advocate with people about LGBT rights. Now, if anyone was going to hear about this supposed common need for depends on adult men it would be me. Believe me I’ve heard weirder things over the years. I always point this out in the argument and say I have never, not once, heard of a man losing all power over his bowls because of anal sex. And I’ve worked in geriatrics all of my adult life.
Bravo Alvin.
The reality is that the SSM ban is doomed in North Carolina, and the AG recognizes what a complete waste of taxpayer dollars it is to pursue some kind of quixotic pursuit to fight it. North Carolina was the last victory for hate groups' efforts to impose and maintain a discriminatory status quo because it was popular with a few religious groups. However, that stance no longer fills the coffers or the pews in churches, which some are finding troubling because it was so reliable for so long.
Academic research by UC Berkeley and Duke University, as well as Pew Research show that there has been a rapid rise in the number of religiously unaffiliated people at the same time as large, organized religious groups including Baptists and to a slightly lesser degree, Catholics have declined in numbers. While there is not necessarily a correlation among all people, it is definitely true of younger individuals as multiple studies have proven.
At this time, while Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina have all concluded that taxpayer dollars can be better spent on genuine priorities, other states in the circuit including South Carolina and West Virginia are wasting taxpayer money to defend these laws. As for the ludicrous claims some pastors are making about diapers, well he needs to go back and familiarize himself with both the golden rule, as well as the ninth commandment ("Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", in other words, don't lie about others). He can still redeem himself, but whether he will or not remains to be seen given his affiliation with known hate groups.
MY CELLPHONE! How the hell did he get my cellphone? For years it's been lodged in my- you know what, we don't need to go there.
On a more serious note, is there any reaction from Wooden since the ruling?
