Never fear, Chick Publications is here! or What some people really think of gay marriage

Maybe it's just me but marriage equality coming to New Hampshire seems to have left some members of the religious right a bit dazed.

One News Now has yet to report on it and my usually reliable anti-gay Peter LaBarbera hasn't said a word yet.

Even Focus on the Family have been strangely silent.

But not everyone is silent.

Someone alerted me to this tract from Chick Publications. Chick Publications is a site that publishes cartoon gospel tracts. You may have seen these various tracts in a doctor's office or at the bus stop.

It is an old tract (it was created in 2004) and while it does not address marriage equality in New Hampshire per se, it's safe to say that the creator doesn't exactly care for gay marriage at all.

The following are some snippets from the tract:

Judge for yourself but I tend to think that minus the little imps, this is exactly the argument the religious right uses against marriage equality.

It's not exactly a logical argument when drawn out, is it?

I think Jack Chick is creating more atheists than anything else.

I remember this one. I always thought the little devils on the shoulders kissing were adorable.

The sad thing he is very talented when it comes to artwork. It's nasty what he does with that talent though.

I work for a railroad and as such had the job of relieving station agents when they would go on vacation. In one such place, the regular agent was an overly devout Christian but he never would get in your face about it. Instead he would make sure that the station, especially the restrooms were plastered with Chick tacts.

I detested them then, which was 20 years ago, and still scoff at them today as yes, they are most hateful. Before I left each place that I would find them they would be kindly deposited in the trash.

It should come as no surprise to me that 20 years later that this person signed the petition calling for a vote in Arkansas to ban adoption by anyone other than a legally married couple.

Isn't modern technology wonderful.? Like I said, he never would come at you face to face, but he would always stab you in the back and not be a man to tell you.

I remember some Chick tracts from the 70's where he lambasted Catholics, stating that they were not true Christians and that they were all evil sinners taking part in Satan's plan to thwart the truth.

The little demons are such a nice touch. And of course the gay men (and that gay-friendly, if not lesbian, teacher) all have to be really ugly. Jack Chick is good for a laugh if nothing else.

I do disagree on one minor point - when the right uses the same arguments, those little imps are right there at their side. They're not missing at all! I appreciate your posting this, as odious as it is.

P.S. I'm with Stephen; the imps ARE adorable.

Actually Jack Chick may not have drawn this comic. We know that from 1972 on he had Fred Carter doing many of the tracts.

This Was Your Life is an example of Chick's actual work and as you can see he has a little problem doing detailed faces something this track has in a abundance.

Every once in a great while I'd see one of these odious pieces of crap on the local college campus. We have a large number of international students, and most of the ones left were the ones slandering Hinduism.

With my town gearing up for a ballot battle over two non-discrimination clauses, I'm expecting to see the anti-TLBG ones popping up soon.

BTW, any tract I come across goes into the recycling bin. I abhor having to infest the rest of the papers with such odious garbage, but I do my part to recycle.

Yeah, I find all sorts of religious crap as I walk around my campus. I promptly take it up and deposit it in the nearest recycle bin. Sometimes I find Chick tracts, sometimes it's newsletters from a church, sometimes it's copies of Watchtower Magazine and often enough, it's flyers for a religious group on campus called "Abide In Me" (AIM).

Okay, those demons were very unnecessary, and why make gay men look evil? I may not agree with them but I certainly don't agree with making them look like monsters. In fact that's what I've hated about these tracts: they just about always make non-Christians look like demon possessed robots. That's wrong and way too one sided.

Its sad and pathetic how hypocritical, evil and hateful atheists like the fools who posted here, are. You Satanists only hate Jack Chick and his ministry because you hate the truth. Homosexuality is an evil, decadent perversion. Those people are mentally ill and need help as do the hypocrites who lie and act like Jack Chick is crazy for rightfully acknowledging the filth and evil of homosexuality. The truth is Jack Chick tells the truth and no one likes a truth teller. Satanists would rather be told how great they are, not that they're sinners and are destined for Hell unless they repent and ask God's forgiveness.

So are you calling me an atheist or a Satanist? I didn't know one could be both.
