I know you moderate comments so Im hoping you'll see this. I thoroughly enjoy your weekly segment on Know Your History.
Given the risks to our rights that the results of the most recent election poses, I was hoping you'd consider Dr. Evelyn Hooker for that segment. She died today (Nov 18) in 1996. Her research helped support the 1973 decision to stop labeling "homosexuality" as a psychiatric disorder.
She was an ally in our struggle. It's a shame that more people don't remember or recognize the importance of work. What a novel concept - judging gay men by a representative sample rather than only by only including those who were imprisoned, institutionalized, or under
psychiatric care.
There was a movie made about her. Don't know if it's available on the 'net, as it's quite old.
Thanks for your consideration. Your blogs is definitely one of my favorites. My partner and I have 4 kids - two in college and two in preschool. My two in college also enjoy your blog. They're both straight and find many useful bits of information from your blog that they discuss when combatting homophobia. Sadly, some people are still amazed to learn they have two dads - usually saying, "but you're so normal."
Thanks for your kind words my friend. ;p I will look to see if I can find the movie about Hooker.
