Not the best way to explain your opposition to marriage equality
Somewhere, Maggie Gallagher is pulling her hair out.
U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) attempts to explain why he doesn't support marriage equality.
Of course his beliefs are important. One could never support something because of someone else's beliefs, right? An excellent example of invisible privilege.
He is waffling because he knows marriage equality is coming, but he constituents have not "evolved" and he would be primaried if he came out in favor now. This was an attempt to be "fair" and not have a YouTube vid show up in a campaign ad in 2020. He is protecting what he hopes is a long political career.
