Long time fan, but I have to disagree with you. It will never not be a good time to pick on the Log Cabin Republicans. Never.
The Log Cabin Republicans need not worry. Thirty years or so from now a generation of voters will have grown up with marriage equality and even the most obstinate opponent will grudgingly admit that the case for it being a "real an imminent" threat is unsustainable. When that day comes, the conservatives of the future will be pointing to you and telling LBGT voters and their families "See! It was we conservatives who were fighting for your rights all the time! That means it was the lib-tards who wanted to keep you in the closet!"
