Franklin Graham |
No matter how low Trump stoops, how badly he flails, or what off-the-wall thing he says, he can always count on the support of one person - Franklin Graham.
Graham, who apparently functions with his eyes closed and his fingers stuffed in his ears, not only support Trump, but seems to believe that his reelection will cause God to 'spare America.'
From CBN:
"I think God brought him here for this season, for these four years. I'm just asking that God would spare this country for another four years to give us a little bit more time to do the work before the storm hits. I believe the storm is coming. You're going to see Christians attacked; you're going to see churches close; you're going to see a real hatred expressed toward people of faith. . .God uses men. He works through men and I believe Donald Trump is the president for a reason. I think God has put him in this position. Western civilization as we have known it, he is defending that."
Either Graham has spent so much time up Trump's tookis that his common sense has been dulled by the fumes or being around Trump in general has brought out his true persona - that of a power-hungry false prophet consumed with self-righteousness but still able to put up a front of false piety. I don't know which it is, but I do know that the man is delusional.
And his claims and predictions of anti-Christian persecution is getting to be tiresome. He has predicted it again and again and again. Nothing has happened in this country resembling his apocalyptic predictions.
However, as of this week, other Christians are beginning to notice. And they are rallying against him. What set them off is his presence at last week's Republican National Convention in which he made a partisan prayer for Trump.
From The Hill:
A petition calling for evangelist Franklin Graham to be removed as the chairman, president and CEO of the charitable organization Samaritan’s Purse has garnered more than 11,000 signatures as of Wednesday. The petition is calling for Graham's removal over a prayer he led at the Republican National Convention last week. The petition, organized by the group Faithful America, has received 11,274 signatures as of 5 p.m. Wednesday. The organization is “the largest online community of Christians putting faith into action for social justice,” according to its website. The campaign, which was launched Friday, says “The final night of the 2020 Republican convention began with a partisan appearance from notoriously homophobic preacher Franklin Graham, who prayed, 'I thank you tonight for our president, Donald J. Trump... in the mighty name of your Son.'"“Standing behind a Trump-Pence campaign sign, Graham also used Jesus's name to give thanks for ‘the many blessings we have received these past four years.’ We would hardly consider family separation, the deadly federal COVID-19 response, rampant corruption and authoritarianism, or ongoing systemic racism to be ‘blessings,’ " the statement continued.
